The big news from SRAM for 2012 is a long anticipated update to the Red component group. Now for anyone who has owned the Red parts the low weight and double tap shifting will remain but there have been significant updates to the front derailleur, crankset/ chainrings and cassette . Front shifting has been SRAM’s Red’s Achilles heel in the past but not any more. Front shifting is now on par with Shimano and Campy and will require no trimming on the front derailleur in any combination. A final but subtle area that SRAM engineers put time in was quieting the running of the gears down. This was accomplished by changes to the cassette and rear derailleur pulleys.
Total group price with a standard gxp or bb30 crank with install and sales tax is $3000, individual component prices are below.
SRAM purchased Quark in 2011 in the new Red group integrates a crank based power meter as a option. Great looking graphics and it will match the rest of your parts.
